Welgevonden Game Reserve
PARADISE IN THE WATERBERG
The Reserve is a scientifically important portion of the world renowned, and UNESCO protected Waterberg Mountains approximately 90,000 acres in size. It is comprised of Africa's Big 5 animals including a list of species that is lengthy and awe inspiring. The Reserve is a popular destination for tourists because of its wildlife, vast scenery, exclusivity, absence of malaria carrying vectors, mild climate and proximity to other important destinations. The Reserve as a whole works closely with the local community of Vaalwater through partnership organizations and direct hires of its people by both the Reserve and individual property owners. The Lodge is a 2.5-3 hour drive from Johannesburg/O.R. Tambo International Airport and can most easily be accessed through the East Gate. It is located near the small town of Vaalwater which has all of the basics and beyond. Additionally, there are two larger towns 1.5 hour drive from The Lodge.
